This weekend, i did a collage

My friend Jacky was having a tough day with coursework, and i cheered her up and got into the study groove by sticking all her fancy paper to some other paper and drawing on it...cheered me up, anyway...

Raves and Sketches

Well first off, i have to extend massive congratulations and respect to the omniscience crew, who pulled off the best Rave in Surrey that's been seen since the Po-po got their own "rave response unit" back in 2003.

off the back of that i thought I'd share a few recent bit of tat I've knocked up... i was gonna wait till I'd actually finished the project I'm working on, but fuck it, here's the works in progress:

Happy Easter!

I went the traditional route this Easter and spent it with family- went to visit my ickle bro in Norf Landan - he is a jammy bastard and moved In with a bunch of really safe people- not only that but they're all talented, creative, pro-active...erm wreckheads hah! so my kinda people.

Anyway, it was my second trip up town this week, the first one being to see "Manchester Orchestra" in Camden on Wednesday. [brag] my mate works at abbey road so it was free [/brag]. both visits have strengthened my resolve to actually get something done and get where i want to be. which is London. i need to get a half decent career in graphics started, i need to get the VJ thing back on the rails, i need to take advantage of still being young and and resilient and full of hope and desire still.

I need to be where i can make connections and be inspired and be near people who actually have dreams and aspirations and are willing to fight/suffer/kill for it. and i love my homecrew, but one thing my hometown does not foster is wild creative flight. it is a place of mediocrity, familiarity, comfort, conservatism and bullshit. It has been infecting me. this must stop.

So! i need to make a plan. i need to re-double the efforts in getting me a London graphics job. i must stop using excuses and realise that the only person who is gonna get me to where I'm going is me.

Life is a Laugh
this well cheered me up, even tho it's hardly ground-breaking, it was still a very welcome sight. me and Finbar went to teh Science Museum and the V&A. and then got wrecked. heh.

Man O
This was Manchester orchestra at Camden barfly last Wednesday. for the record, they are neither and orchestra or from Manchester. A bunch of yanks, in fact. and they might have been fantastic, or it might just be that i haven't been to see any live music for ages an was all excited. Bless.

'allo! i used to run freeparties (or raves, depending how old you are) with the Native Beats crew

which for anyone outside europe, are illegal parties in the woods, usually on common ground, and which legally are characterised by the emission of a succession of repetitive beats.

anyway, i was at my mate's house, who still has the old soundsystem in his garage, and as is usual for a Thursday, we gathered the old crew in the area and had an ickle rave in his garage, while broadcasting on tinterweb.

last Thursday i was inspired by memories, and made a drawing of a rave in the morning after, which is my favourite bit. it's when the police have stopped hassling, the squares and chavs have gone home, and you are left with teh hardcore enjoying the early morning sun and and basking in the afterglow of what just happened. basking in freedom accomplished. that's what it looks like in my head ^^

Planned Exhibition in Bogart's Bar, Worthing

right, i have a bunch of amazing companions whom i used to put on raves with, they live in a bungalow in Sunny Worthing by the coast. They are not only true dear friends, they are also all creatively gifted and live an admirably free and independent way, with social convention more or less having been reconstructed for the better and the good. anyway, i digress.

the point is that they and i consider ourselves artists, but what with one thing and another haven't pulled our finger's out and put on a show for some time. So we decided it was high time this was remedied.

i knocked up a poster, have an initial agreement with the venue and keep trying to write a press release... I think I'll take some press shots next weekend and get a contact at the Worthing Herald... it should be good: 4 artists, a collection of paintings and prints, a bit of sculpture, a few djs in the bar next door, some video projections, maybe some poetry if my friend has her way...nice start to the summer if you ask me.

It nice to have goals, that's what I reckon anyway.
